Butler, PA – Heavyweight prospect Brian Minto (31-2, 20 KO’s ) knocked down John Poore three times en route to a 1st round KO in front of over 4,000 of his hometown fans. Minto was in control the entire fight, first sending Poore to the canvas with a looping right hand seconds into the bout. He then cornered his opponent who went down from a variety of punches, including a right uppercut which was the last that landed. A left hook at 2:23 of the round sent Poore to the mat again and official Gary Rosato waved off the fight without counting. This marked Minto’s 4th consecutive 1st round KO since losing to Luan Krasniqi via decision in Germany in 2007.
In undercard action, Rayco Saunders (16-10-2, 7 KO’s) beat the previously unbeaten Tommy Karpency (11-1-1, 7 KO’s) via unanimous decision in a light heavyweight fight. Scores were 76-75 three times. Boxingherald.com scored the fight a draw at 76-76.
Jimmy Lubash (8-1, 3 KO’s) put another blemish on a previously undefeated fighter's record by beating David Cook (3-1, 2 KO’s) via unanimous decision in a bout between Pennsylvania Prospects. Lubash defeated Cook by scores of 58-55, 56-55, and 57-56. Boxingherald.com scored the bout in favor of Lubash, 58-56.
In a heavyweight swing bout, hometown heavyweight Jim Emerick (5-1, 2 KO’s) continued the night's trend of putting losses on the records of formerly unbeaten fighters when he won a very close split decision over Philadelphia’s Anthony Gatt (6-1-1, 4 KO’s). Emerick scored a knockdown just moments into the fight, but Gatt seemed to recover well. Two out of the three judges saw the fight for Emerick 38-37 to give him the split decision victory.
