Popular Irish middleweight John Duddy, fresh off of his 10 round beatdown of Charles Howe on Saturday, will likely fight IBF junior middleweight champion Verno Phillips in the fall.
The fight is "almost done", according to Irish Ropes Promotions, Duddy's promotional company.
Duddy, 29, has fought his entire career at the 160 pound limit. On Saturday, he weighed in at 158 1/2 pounds. Under new trainer Pat Burns, Duddy feels he can make 154 pounds without losing strength.
Phillips, 38, captured the IBF title with a split decision win against Cory Spinks in March.
